VENTURA — October 26, 2026. Ventura has started construction on Interim Fire Station 7 at 2269 Alessandro Drive, a long-planned facility intended to improve emergency response for Pierpont, Ventura Keys, Ventura Harbor and surrounding neighborhoods.
Why the waterfront area needs another station
At the groundbreaking announced in October, city officials said Ventura’s most recently completed station, Station 6, opened in 1988, when the department handled roughly 5,000 calls a year. The department now responds to nearly 19,000 calls annually, while coastal neighborhoods have experienced some of its longer response times because of travel distances.
What is planned for the 2.92-acre property?
The city describes an approximately 5,800-square-foot apparatus bay, 2,880 square feet of living quarters and a multipurpose room. Once completed, Medic Engine 7 is slated to operate from the site. The former water-facility structures were demolished in 2024 to prepare the property.
The city broke ground earlier this month; construction is not the same as an operating fire station. The release does not establish that Medic Engine 7 has already moved in or guarantee an opening date. Residents should continue using existing emergency dispatch procedures, including 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
