VENTURA — October 26, 2026. Residents and visitors can now check a live camera view of Ventura Pier and the nearby coastline without traveling to the waterfront. The city announced the webcam’s launch on October 5, the 154th anniversary of the completion of the original Ventura Wharf in 1872.
What the webcam shows
The camera looks east along the waterfront, capturing the historic pier, beach and Pacific Ocean. It also offers a time-lapse of the previous day. Ventura says the system is powered by Pixelcaster, offering a public vantage point for people planning visits or simply following the appearance of the coast.
How to use it responsibly
A live image can provide a quick visual reference for cloud cover or general beach conditions, but it is not a certified surf forecast, lifeguard report or evacuation alert. It may not show hazards elsewhere on the shoreline, and camera access or image availability can change. Beach users should continue consulting official weather, tide and safety advisories.
The city’s release describes the pier as California’s oldest surviving pier. The webcam is a separate informational amenity and not an announcement of a new pier construction project.
